Suffer the Children

Organized religion—and Catholicism in particular—cannot implode quickly enough as far as I’m concerned.

Hate, hate, hate…it seems that’s all they know.

From AMERICAblog:

Just when you think the Catholic Church can’t sink any lower, it does:

A preschool student at a Catholic school in Boulder will not be allowed to return next school year because of what is going on at home.

The student’s parents are two women and the Denver Archdiocese says their homosexual relationship violates the school’s beliefs and policy.

According to teachers at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, a meeting was held Tuesday to discuss the issue. The staff was told a student would not be allowed to re-enroll because of his or her parents’ sexual orientation. The staff members were also told not to talk to the media.

In a statement sent to 9NEWS, the Archdiocese said, “Homosexual couples living together as a couple are in disaccord with Catholic teaching.”

Now, unlike the leaders of the Catholic Church, I don’t purport to be an expert of the words of Jesus Christ. But, I do remember hearing something like this once or twice when I used to go to Mass:

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come to me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

No mention of “homosexual couples” there.

And, as one reader pointed out to John, “No word yet on whether they’re rounding up the kids of divorced parents who haven’t sought a church annulment, or worse, weren’t married in the Catholic church to begin with.”

Given the Catholic Church’s long, sordid and disgusting history of protecting and coddling child abusers, I don’t know why any parent would entrust their kid to any Catholic official. In retropect, there are probably thousands of abused victims and their parents who wished the Church had banned them from Catholic School.
