This is more of a thought experiment than anything else, because science tells us that even if all the ice on Earth melted completely, the sea level would rise "only" 65m, or about 230 feet. It will still destroy all the coastal cities around the world, but it wouldn't bury half of North America in the way a 500 meter rise would.
