Failed GOP Candidate's Attempt At Painting LGBTQ+ People As 'Demons' Backfires Gloriously
After QAnoner and failed Republican Senate candidate Lauren Witzke shared a graphic of 'Pride Month' fading to 'Demon,' LGBTQ+ people instead embraced it.
Failed Republican Senate candidate and QAnon conspiracy theorist Lauren Witzke attempt to undermine Pride Month has unexpectedly garnered support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Witzke's post, featuring an image with the words "Pride Month" fading to reveal the word "demon" in rainbow letters, faced strong opposition from LGBTQ+ individuals and allies who embraced the meme, ridiculed Witzke, and highlighted the queer and trans artist responsible for creating the rainbow version of the image.
You can see Witzke's tweet below.
— Lauren Witzke (@LaurenWitzkeDE) May 26, 2023
Artist Veya, who uses fae/they pronouns, repurposed the original anti-LGBTQ+ meme in 2021. The initial image, attributed to Christian publisher Sword-In-Hand Publishing's Facebook page, displayed the word "demon" in red letters after the fading of the phrase "Pride Month."
However, Veya transformed the meme into a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity by replacing the red letters with rainbow colors. This artistic reinterpretation gained attention after Witzke's misguided attempt to discredit Pride Month.
In a follow-up tweet, Witzke seemed blissfully unaware of how her tweet would be received, writing:
"Demons can seethe. Christians are DONE taking crap from the LGBTQ Mafia. We're cancelling Pride Month, pouring out your Bud Light, shutting down your Targets, and we're taking back the rainbow."
"We will also stand up for our right to criticize your depravity in court. No more cowarding, no more pandering."
In response to Witzke's tweet, the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters created various parodies and riffs on her post.

These creative and empowering responses not only countered Witzke's message but also highlighted the rejection of her divisive rhetoric.
Numerous individuals also expressed their support by purchasing T-shirts featuring Veya's design, further amplifying the artist's visibility.

Witzke has a extensive track record of targeting and criticizing LGBTQ+ individuals.
In March 2021, Witzke responded to a tweet by diplomat Richard Grenell regarding a trans woman's attendance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) by making derogatory statements, claiming that transgender people are "mentally ill" and "demonic."
Witzke, who previously worked as a host for the far-right conspiracy theory and disinformation website TruNews, also referred to the COVID-19 outbreak that affected the outlet as a "demonic attack." She attributed this attack to the channel's hosting of far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, who identifies as "ex-gay," and referred to him as "Satan's favorite sodomite."
More recently, Witzke expressed her support for Uganda's death penalty for homosexuality, stating that unlike lawmakers in Texas, the Ugandan government recognized the need to prevent any perceived encroachment by the LGBTQ+ community and labeled them the "LGBTQ Mafia."

Fuck Yes.
And This…
…is just one of many reasons I love Apple.
CEO Tim Cook said Friday at the company's annual shareholder meeting that there is no room at the table for climate deniers.
The National Center for Public Policy Research, a D.C.based conservative think thank, arrived at the meeting demanding that the board not pursue any environmental initiatives that hurt the company's bottom line. The group's proposal would have required Apple to disclose the costs of such initiatives and to be more transparent about its relationship with "certain trade associations and business organizations promoting the amorphous concept of environmental sustainability."
Cook's response to this squawking was priceless: "We do a lot of things for reasons besides profit motive," and reiterated Steve Jobs' founding vision for Apple: "We want to leave the world better than we found it."
And if the NCPPR wasn't unhappy enough with that, he went on, saying they could just leave. "If you want me to do things only for [return on investment] reasons," he said, "you should get out of this stock."
Oh sah-nap!
Needless to say, the NCPPR did not take the rejection well, throwing a tantrum by tossing themselves on the floor, stomping their feet and threatening to hold their breath until they turned blue…like typical toddlers.

Ouch.
This one's gonna leave a mark:
"Then came Windows 8. It was truly awful at a fundamental level that Windows 8.1, 9, or 10 can't fix unless Microsoft destroys their faltering mobile ambitions once and for all. They won't. Keep in mind that is a fundamental design choice that is the very basis of the OS design, not a few features that need polishing. Apps won't come until the user base comes up and IDC has backed up SemiAccurate's long-held view that this isn't going to happen. Note the lack of a qualifier like soon, 2017′s numbers are not close to enough even if IDC's rosy picture pans out. And in light of this, Microsoft forced current and potential customers, pick a tablet OS, us or them, the choice of a real OS has been completely removed by executive fiat.
Stop for a second and ponder the magnitude of this stupidity, the sheer negligence that has to be rife among Microsoft managers and senior executives to allow this. They knew what they were doing and did it anyway, Microsoft knows what users want and made the conscious choice to not only offer something different but to also deny customers the possibility of getting what they needed to work. Every objective third-party said it would be a disaster but Microsoft carried on. On top of this Microsoft gave users another choice, abandon your current Android/iOS apps, music, movies, knowledge, social links, and devices and come to our OS that doesn't have any apps, music, movies, inherent knowledge, social links, or devices instead.
Worse yet by forcing the new miserable and counter-intuitive UI on people and not allowing legacy Apps on the new store or on WART/Windows Phone, they quite effectively told people you can't take anything from your current Windows software catalog and knowledge base with you either. Developers had to recode their entire software base for something that had a vanishingly small marketshare and make something incompatible with the billions of PCs currently in use. For some reason they didn't. Buyers would have to abandon much of what they had bought for Windows 7 and earlier, some software, some media, habits, and many devices that worked for them and that they liked for something that didn't have apps, didn't work well, and was truly unpleasant to use. For some reason buyers are not flocking to Windows any more, just the opposite.
It all comes down to Microsoft. The company is so blindingly mismanaged that it is almost impossible to describe in mere words. Microsoft painted themselves in to a corner knowingly. When it was clear that the Windows 8 master plan had unquestionably failed they simply kept going because the situation they engineered meant all other options were far worse. None of these options can succeed, it is just a quest of how bad the outcome will be and how soon it will happen. The company has knowingly destroyed their rock solid desktop monopoly to chase a dream in a way that had absolutely no chance of succeeding. They had to know this before they started, they may be myopic, single-minded, and stubborn but they aren't stupid. That said they have still failed."
This One's Gonna Leave a Mark
I think I've experienced enough "Fuck Microsoft!" moments over the years to totally justify posting this.
From MacDailyNews:
Microsoft is (still!) led by a confused clown and hopelessly polluted at its upper levels with political schemers and backstabbers. It's amazing the bloated carcass can even produce a product at this point, even if it is a product for a market that does not exist outside of Microsoft's delusional dreams/misleading advertising campaigns.
The company is a failure. That's why its products are failures, too. GIGO. Garbage In, Garbage Out.
In the end, Microsoft will be a mere footnote; a blotch on the early timeline of computing that nobody will remember fondly, if at all.
As we explained quite clearly last October in yet another prescient Take that even Microsoft could have read, long before they were forced to swallow a $900 million write-off over their Surface flop:
That dumbass kickstand is yet another ill-considered, misguided, corporate committee-driven "differentiation" squirted out of Microsoft's back door unbidden onto the public.
Microsoft is staffed with stupid and/or lazy people. There's no other explanation besides crippling narcissism – which is a very real possibility. Most people use iPads while lounging around. All Microsoft's Surface "team" had to do was buy some real iPads and use them for a few weeks. Steve Jobs himself even demonstrated the iPad while reclining in a comfy leather chair, not sitting upright at a friggin' desk. Microsoft was shown the way and, once again, they failed to properly follow Apple's lead. By now, that's just stupid and/or lazy.
Microsoft suffers from delusions of grandeur. They think they matter and that people will buy their pretend iPad over other pretend iPads because it's from Microsoft. Microsoft does not matter. Microsoft no longer has the power to sell superfluous products. The world already has iPad. The thinking world finally woke up and moved on from Microsoft's soul-sapping dreck. That clueless Microsoft haven't figured this out years ago (Zune, Kin, how many total face-plants do they need?) is illustrative of the depths of their delusions.
