SMDH

One of the newly-renovated elevators in the parking garage at work. Out of service for the past four months, and this is what we get greeted with when it went back in service a couple weeks ago. I just want to know who the braintrust was that selected white rubber tile for the floor.

Ben said, "It was on sale."

  1. At my last agency the main elevators had long had red carpet.* One Monday we came in and there was now thick, plush white carpet in them. We think it was extra from when they renovated the agency head's suite and some dingbat decided to replace the red stuff with it. Well, it was the talk of the office all day, mainly about how quickly it would be replaced, and how loud the scream was from the head of facilities when she came in and saw it. Two days later, gone and replaced with something more durable and dirt-proof.

*When I got to the agency one of the managers liked to tell the story of the day the red carpet showed up. He and a woman he didn't know got on the elevators together and remarked on the new carpet. As she was getting off the elevator she turned to him and said, "You know, they don't use this color in insane asylums because it riles up the inmates," and the doors closed.
