(That's actual number of calendar days. It's a whole lot less if you remove weekends and holidays. And even less than that if you calculate the actual number of days I have to go into the office!)
My pop was a white collar worker, not management and certainly not big money. Three years out of college, 25 yo, he bought our family home in Seattle for $45,000 on a 20-year mortgage. It looked a little like the house in your picture.
Mom sold the house shortly after Dad died in 1991, and got almost half a million for it. The same house, with no renovations, sold recently for $1.8m.
Houses are no longer for working stiffs.
