Paramount +’s owners were contributors to the “Trump Fund” so his administration would allow their future merger. Colbert was “co-lateral damage”, it seems.

I believe that Paramount/C.B.S. will be in the news in the weeks and months ahead, and not in a good way. This act by them will forever be an Albatross hanging from their Corporate Neck for a very long time. And boy did they earn it! In the end, they will wish they’d never given a knee to a Convicted Felon and reflect back on how they should have left Colbert’s Late Show alone. The financial hits they will be taking will be enormous compared to the costs of (possibly) losing money on the show it was NOT about the money in the first place. This was about political appeasment, made to look like something else. You cannot bottle and control the genius of a brilliant comedic mind, you nourish it and allow it to thrive. You don’t back over it and kill it for the momentary ass-kissing of a Fascist who will be long gone relatively shortly. Colbert will outlast all this.
