One Of The Worst Parts….

…of not being able to eat solid food (for however long this is going to be) is that you start seeing pictures of food everywhere. You also realize how much eating is present on television. It seems every show has at least one instance of a group of people dining together, grabbing a slice of pizza, sitting in a cafe having coffee and pastries, getting take-away Chinese… It’s just crazy.

To be honest, I’ve been cheating. Some things go down easier than others. Some things refuse to go down at all. Today has been one of those days when nothing is going down (even liquids), forcing me to rely on the fucking gastric tube (yeah, I had one of those put in pre-surgery) for everything. I’m meeting with the swallow/speech therapist next week to begin therapy. We’ll see how it goes.

So without further ado…let me frustrate myself with some mouthwatering images:

  1. Oh I remember I would sometimes awake in the middle of the night after dreaming of eating actual food, only I was still in the intensive care unit with the tracheotomy due to a Guillain-BarrĂ© syndrome, and therefore a f*cking gastric tube too…
I really wish you’ll get past this as soon as possible and start enjoying your favorite meals again.
    Cheers to that,
    Laurent

  2. Hang in there!!

    So you don’t swallow?

    : ) A question for another time.

All the pictures of food look delicious, except that shell thing in the skillet. I don’t like playing with food. I want it ready to go in front of me. I am also fanatical about temperature. I want things served hot. I don’t mind if it cools down in front of me BUT I want it hot. Also, I don’t do anything raw.

Start making a list of a few dishes you want first off, when things get back to usual. Of all the things you showed, I love the potatoes au gratin. I would throw some ham in the dish and make it a meal. Ok!! A side salad.

    Be patient.

    Speedy recovery!!

    And have a great weekend.

  3. I can only imagine how FRUSTRATING it must be for you, Mark. But, ‘you’ll get there’. And when you do…I know I’d EASILY trade you those Clams for The Patty Melt! đŸ˜‰
