I lived in Apartments my entire life: San Francisco, Seattle, and Brooklyn; never able to own a pet. At retirement, and a move to rural Montana, I was able to, for the first time in my life, get a Dog! We were together about 8 years. Then, ‘J.J.’ died. All of the descriptive photo memes about having a dog of your own are incredibly, vividly, accurate. And that last lesson: ‘love was worth the pain’ (after your dog suddenly leaves you)…Still trying to be strong enough to go through it all over again. Perhaps someday.
