Apparently I’m at 82% of my allotment (100GB) of disc space under my website’s current hosting plan. While not a pressing issue immediately—and realizing it’s taken me twelve-plus years to get to this point (although my usage has increased over the years and just in 2025 alone I used 11GB*)—at some point I’m going to have to decide what to do about it. Based on this past year’s usage, maybe not next year, but definitely sometime in 2027.
In the meantime I’m going to start posting all images in .webp form to save space—as much as I hate that format and it requires an extra step on the back end.
So I’m asking my readers for your input. If I want to keep my current plan, I’m going to have to delete stuff eventually. Should I go back and delete the first few years of the blog’s posts and pictures, or should I wipe the whole thing and start fresh when I reach the inevitable “disk full” message?
Or should I be proactive as that day draws near and upgrade my hosting plan?
Obviously not ideal, as you can see…
*damn, that’s a lot of pr0n and Trump memes! (I actually used 15GB each year from 2022-2024, so it’s actually down.)

You do all of us a wonderful FAVOR by even posting for us, in good health and in bad, and voenixrising is greatly appreciated, at least by me. I know you will do what YOU think is best for you and the blog. But if these are the choices, than I would lean towards ‘eliminating’ your earliest blogs…slowly, if that’s possible. I have not gone into your Archives, but I will now. I’ll start at your first year, (whatever that was) and go through as rapidly as I can, into the following year. If this is what you do decide to do, can you tell us which year(s) exactly, you’ll do first? Thanks for even asking us for our opinion, that other site (who’s name shall not be spoken here), would never ask their members what they thought about anything!
Way back when Blogger had a similar limit but I was too cheap to pay for space and ended up deleting quite a bit of stuff. Now I kind of regret it. I don’t remember what the price was then, but they weren’t as high as these rates. My first inclination is to NOT pay the ransom.
Ouch. An unpleasant problem. I think of my site as an extension of me, so deleting old stuff would be like deleting a finger or two. I’d choke up the extra cash, even if it meant scrimping on other things.
I’d be “Pleased as punch” to underwrite a month of fees. JoeMyGod has a tip jar for readers’ contributions. Do you have a similar link to point your visitors to?
For suggestions what to delete, I’d vote for the earliest posts. Good luck. Thanks for the keeping “us” informed and entertained.
