I just read Story of Your Life the other night after seeing a teaser for Arrival, the upcoming film that it's based on. It's not an especially easy read, concentrating as it does on language and how it influences our perception of the world, so I'm not exactly sure how this will translate onto the big screen. There were only two or three main characters in the work and it contained none of the ominous military excursions that are hinted at in the trailer.
Still, I'm excited to see this. More excited than about I was about seeing Star Trek Beyond—which we still haven't made it to.
Like you I haven't seen "Star Trek Beyond" yet. I just haven't been able to muster up the interest and I have never missed a Star Trek movie on the big screen prior to this.
I just saw the trailer for "Arrival" for the first time just a few moments before I started reading blogs for the day. It looks like an amazing and intriguing movie. I didn't know it was based on the book; I'll have to give it a read.
Seeing the trailer had me reflecting on the seemingly utter loss of the public's interest in space exploration and the like. A "Star Trek"-like existence seems farther away than it did 20 years ago.
Interesting. I think it's time to read the book. As for the new Star Trek movie, it's already on Redbox's coming soon list so I'm gonna wait for the bluray.
OH SNAP!!!!
