I know there's probably a perfectly good explanation for this, but I'll be damned if I can figure it out.

Once a legitimate blog. Now just a collection of memes 'n menz.

A comment on this image on Failblog pointed out the slopes cut into the two different shapes are different angles, barely. Zoomed out and with borders to cover the difference it can look the same.
If you look at the top right or bottom left corner of the newly shifted shape you'll notice a pixel difference.
Damn you all! I got out my graph paper and you're right!

Happy to be of service. 😉

I am not sure it was Abraham Lincoln who said that (insert here a sarcastic burst of laughter, borderline maniac)
Yeah… the "extra" square is actually a very long, thin jagged "diamond" that runs point-to-point (lower left to upper right) across the "new" shape. On a computer screen, it's tough to see it… but this movie disguises it even further by having a really thick line run across it. As Erik says, if you were to actually (accurately!) cut this out with paper, you'd spot it immediately.
Cut out the shapes from a piece of graph paper with an x-acto knife then reassemble. It doesn't work….
Killjoy. Are you saying the data was manipulated?
