I'm Not Sure…

…how much of this is truth and how much is liberal hyperbole/panic, but if true it is very concerning to anyone who values free speech and their right to privacy.

It supposedly has only a 5% chance of passing, but nothing is guaranteed—especially in today's environment.

  1. Ever read the book "1984" by George Orwell?

Ever pay attention to what the federal government did about spying on its citizens during the GWBush administration? The FISA Court and "warrantless searches"? All done in the name of national security.

Sure, they can watch you and what you do, but if you are not doing anything wrong, they'll go to watch somebody else. So and so on. Yes, some watches will be targeted, but many will probably be random.

No matter what TikTok USA operatives claim, the entity is still tied to the Chinese government. On the other hand, I suspect the Chinese government operatives are much more excited about getting "USA Trade Secrets" from their associations with USA companies who have to partner with a Chinese company in order to do business in China. Rather than some normal citizen who chooses to use a popular phone app.

Considering all of the existing laws against foreign entities and such, it was just a matter of time before TikTok would get banned. Get over it! Formulate a new app that will replace it (as it will be replaced anyway, eventually), which is completely USA-owned and operated with NO clandestine ties to any foreign government or terrorist organization.

IF you want to get excited about something, investigate how much of CitiBank which is owned by foreign representatives, for example. And that is not the only one of our financial businesses with foreign investments!!
