This little quote became abundantly clear to me when I was going through cancer treatment 19 years ago. Some friends—whom I’d known for years—disappeared, while others—whom I’d known for only a short time—showed up for me. It helped me put things very clearly into perspective, and there was much housecleaning performed afterward.
