Baby it's cold outside…
To clarify my earlier post, I don't mind the cold, or even the snow. It's driving in the damn stuff that I loathe. To that end, I'm going to start taking public transit to work on snow days, even if it takes me twice as long to get there. (One bus to the train, and then one train to work.) It just isn't worth the stress to drive. (I almost didn't get back into my apartment building this afternoon.) Since I brown bag it already, I don't need the car to run out at lunch, and as long as I don't have to go to our Colorado Springs office, this will work out just fine. (I'm reasonably certain that if an emergency arose there on a snow day that required my physical presence, my boss and I would drive down together in his car.)
Carter, Stanleys was a gay bar and restaurant in the 1970's. It was called the 'OFFICE', I was a waiter there in 1973, it was a fun place. I lived on Woodman at the Oakwood garden apt. I moved to West Holly the end of '73. Lived there until '94 and now here we are. TMI
Carter-We live about two blocks from the Aroma cafe. We also have a home, "beach shack", in north Malibu. My husband of 26yrs and I are both So. Cal. natives. I love So. Cal., I love this city.
I live next to Stanleys in S/O, am at Peet's in S/C every morning, except today, and love living here in the LA area, warts, traffic and all.
Born here, will die here.
OMG, this is the first time you have responded to one of my comments. I am flattered. I have followed your blog for a couple of years, and yes I know you once lived in S.F.. I lived in S.F. in 1975 at 20th street and Castro. I am sttill recovering from that great year. 🙂 Thanks for the responce, Merry Xmas. Mike and Glenn
Mike – I live in Sherman Oaks, and cannot imagine living in Colorado or any other cold climate. I lived/existed in SF for 3 years, Seattle for nearly 2 years, and was oh so glad to have moved back to sunny Southern California.
Sunday, aka Xmas day, is supposed to be around 75+ degrees.
Alex/Ben – not all California is created equal, as Mike and I will be the first to acknowledge. If you want a tour in the future, I am sure both will be willing to show you around.
And job opportunities abound.
Mike, I've already lived in California, and memories of San Francisco haunt my dreams on an almost nightly basis. But there's no way I could ever move back, and Ben has no desire whatsoever to live there.
OR, YOU COULD MOVE TO CALIFORNIA, 🙂 Mike in beautiful Studio City, I can sit in my back yard and enjoy the snow on the mountains 20 miles away.
You should look into SNOW tires. I did some checking and it could run from $500 to $1,000 for four tires. If you have run-flat tires you'll see a HUGE difference and by changing your tires seasonally, you'll get twice the life. Plus you should have plenty of room in your parking space – just remember to lock them up.
We have been in Denver and Aspen in January. It was soo cold. Stay warm, find something, someone, furry to keep you warm.
