Damn, I’m old.
This was the first Carpenters album I bought, and in many ways is still my favorite.

Whenever the question, “What was your first concert?” is asked, I puff my feathers up and answer, “3rd row center, The Carpenters in Portland, OR 1973.” I can see it like yesterday once more. I was 12 and my parents dropped off my best friend Aaron and me at Civic Auditorium. Cubby from The Mickey Mouse Club was the drummer (w/ Karen) and it was surreal joy.
First line says it “Talkin’ to myself and feelin’ old . . .”
