As always, it’s all about the placement of the garage. I can deal with a carport.
An epiphany, perhaps: the car ports served 2 purposes. 1. A cost savings compared to a real enclosed garage. 2. This provided a showing of the home owner’s fine new mid-century Chromesmobile (with whitewall tires) to the neighbors passing by. Bits of the 50s and 60s American Dream thing going on.
