Staying Put…For Now

What a fucking nightmare!

I know changing website hosts has never been easy, but the past four days have been a lesson in frustration.

I’ve been attempting to move over to Hostinger. They were offering half-off on the plan I selected. Sounds good, eh?

The problem was no matter which method I used to transfer the content of this website (around 80GB), it would fail. It’s not just that it would fail. It would take (because of the amount of data involved) 12 hours to fail, and inevitably it failed within the last 30 minutes. Is anyone surprised considering the current state of the world reality we find ourselves in?

I finally gave up and canceled the account altogether and got a refund since I was still well-within my 30 day no-questions-asked window.

I could’ve said fuck it and started fresh with the new host, but the whole point of getting their ginormous hosting plan was so the entire website could be transferred and frankly—while I know it’s stupid—I just wasn’t ready to let go of all these years of silly posts and nekkid menz.

The good news is that I had to increase my current hosting space in order to make the backup for transfer. So we’re set for years and years as far as disk space is concerned…

So for now, we’re all just going to have to deal with the slowness on my current host unless I can somehow get that resolved. (Frankly, at this point, I’m not hopeful.)
