Never missed an episode of this groundbreaking TV dramedy. Appropriate to remember for the start of Gay Pride Month the episode where Blanche’s brother Clayton visits the Girls and intuitive Sophia picks up on Clayton’s homosexuality by asking him a couple random questions. In a kitchen conversation with Dorothy she tells her, “The man’s as gay as a picnic basket.”
That show’s writers covered a lot of ground, discussing in the scripts many topics of the day that some people found objectionable(the pearl clutchers). The Girls and the directors did a great service in bringing important subject matter like this to the family TV.
