  1. Good times, looks like. I see rolls of paper, a transparent orange triangle thingy, and the 3-sided ruler-was this all before Auto-Cad drafting software? You haven’t changed much except for hair color…

And, oh yes, there is the cute “office dork” guy with the pencils stuck in his nose. Definitely an engineer, probably born with a Pickett slide rule in his hand. 😉 Gotta love the smart ones.

    1. We were a very small, hybrid office (only three employees and the two owners). I was the only one who could do AutoCAD, but I would occasionally have to make changes to others’ work, hence why I was at the drafting table.

The “office dork” was the other draftsman. I lost contact with him about twenty years ago, but I understand he had dual UK/US citizenship and got out of here while he could. Neill was a fun guy and very easy to work with. I can count on less than one hand the number of times we ever got angry at each other over the eight years I worked there. The firm as a whole was like a family, both good and bad. When the owners argued…OMG, it was like Mom and Dad going at it, and Neill and I would slink off to the other end of the office or step out for coffee until things blew over.

  2. God, I remember when computers were as big has spaceships.

Fast forward to today. In my office, I use two big-assed screens. There is no computer in sight. It’s all done through the cables. In the last few medical offices I worked in, we had these small square things that were probably 15 inches square, and yes, I do remember the towers. Now I use a laptop. I still use a mouse. I can’t stand using the pad. I had one laptop for years that you could turn off the pad and use a mouse.

I see that three-sided triangular ruler. My oldest brother used one. He was the smart one, and I was the pretty one with common sense.
