“You look like a drag queen.”
“Proudly, BITCH!”
Lately, portrayals of Hell in popular media have presented it not as a place of eternal torment engulfed by flames, but rather as something far more intimate. In both AHS and Preacher, Hell is shown as something very personal and unique to each individual sent there. In Preacher, Hell was portrayed as an having to relive the worst point iin your life again and again on an endless loop. In AHS it’s finding yourself in your worst fear possible.
In the case of Myrtle Snow, Miss Balenciaga herself, it’s being relegated to the position of a sales clerk at JC Penney, selling ready-to-wear stretch polyester to willfully-ignorant suburbanites.
BTW… now that AHS13’s season is over, I have—thoughts—that I will be sharing about the most recent season at some point in the future.
