The basics of investing and saving should be a mandatory class in high school.
HS is almost too late. Kids start spending when they’re 8-10, are given access to items that require monthly or per use payments – cell phones, video games and systems, netflix. Their parents who usually set a poor example are who the kids learn from. They need to learn the value, cost and extent of money. And not just cash but credit and investments and replacement costs.
When I went to high school, we did learn about those things and a lot of other subjects that taught you how to live on your own.
