  1. Vancouver, Washington, not the city where fireworks are banned, but the outlying county areas, where there’s some business or group raising funds with a huge tent of fireworks on every empty lot on every highway. The residents did not disappoint. Last night, from 5pm until 1am, we are literally in the war zone. No one would believe what we endure every 4th, they would need to be here and witness it for themselves. The pyrotechnic aerial displays are commercial grade in size and spectacle, but each is accompanied by a barrage of deafening bangs and booms that leaves ears ringing for days after. In addition to the body parts that may be missing this morning, people will be missing their pets as well. When my area of the county is annexed to the city, hopefully soon, the needless waste of disposable income will end, and people will have to find another way to “entertain” themselves with their money. I awoke at 5:10 this morning to one lone soul setting off a few booming blasts to greet the sunrise. Happy July 5th all!
