I really enjoyed that show! The comments from Blanche, her mother, and the others. Many implied double meanings to imply each was seeking to relive their youthful days . . . in one way or another. GREAT comedy for the time.
I met and spoke to 3 of them at a crowded Barnes and Noble Book (DVD) Signing on 6th Ave. in Midtown Manhatten, back sometime around 1997, 98, or 99. Estelle Getty was not there and we were told she couldn’t travel, (she was suffering from Alzheimers at the time). We walked along the long tables set up with the 3 women greeting and signing our boxed-set of DVD’s. I brought up the ‘Dorothy Killed Trudy’ episode wich co-starred Anne Francis, to Bea Arthur. For a moment she couldn’t quite recall it, and Betty White who was seated next to her leaned in and reminded her of that episode. It was an enjoyable afternoon! (I wish Disney or whoever owns the rights to the show now would release all the episodes on Blu-ray sometime soon before all the fans are gone)
