One Reply to “They Really Didn't Think This Through”

  1. The anti-abortion operatives apparently have NOT considered all of the side issues to their fervent desires! For example, I was at a GM Dealer Training Ride and Drive event about 15 years ago. We were considering the Plusses and Minuses of a Ford model of vehicle. One participant popped up and said "Ford Motor Credit will finance anybody with a heartbeat". We were amused at that seemingly true statement. Which now can mean "that fetus in the womb".

Conservative operatives seem to have forgotten that as they seek to shield children in school from certain "histories", once the kids find ouf about that, they seek to learn about what they aren't supposed to know about, on their own. Might it be best to discuss it with truthful operatives rather than leave their understandings to their own devices?

When abortion was illegal in TX, back in the middle 1960s, IF a girl got pregnant, 1) it was a given that the father would drop out of school, get a job, and marry the girl (to prevent an illegitament birth! or marry her before the baby was born, so it didn't get here with blisters on its feet), 2) that her monied parents would send her to live with "an aunt" in another state to have the kid (and put it up for adoption), 3) as jokes were snickered about for "25cent abortions" (i.e., "rat on a string") . . . at a time when "rubbers" came out of vending machines at gas stations rest rooms (multi-colored rubbers, too!). Everybody knew what was going on and why.

Just because something is illegal does NOT prevent it from happening. In an almost purple state (TX), just get on the Interstate and see how many drivers are breaking the law by driving over the posted speed limit. Of course, they get away with it as the TX governor has a lot of the TX DPS operatives protecting the TX/Mexico border from illegal immigrants. So much for really believing in "law and order" . . .
