One Reply to “Right?!”

  1. The chance presented itself to me this past Tuesday. While cycling, I passed a home where a (Fellow) Senior was working on the outside of the gate on his picket fence. I got about 20 yards and then circled back to him. I asked if he could use any assistance, he didn’t say ‘yes’, nor did he say ‘no’, exactly, so I parked my bike and he explained what he was attempting to do: Repair the Gate so that it would close flush with the post (it wouldn’t let the metal latch catch because the gate itself had shifted perhaps an inch off the post. I lifted the gate and held it in position so he could remove the screws from the hinge and replace them at a new spot. It worked and his Gate closed properly for the lock to work. He was even older than myself I think, but he would probably not have been able to do this by himself alone. It was a simple and easy gesture requiring nothing at all, and the feeling of offering help and the accomplishment of the assistance was….something incredily satisfying.
